Dear users of the sld.tw free subdomain service,
<img><img src="https://dash.sld.tw/logo.png">
We are officially announcing that as of March 5, 2026, the management team of sld.tw has been replaced. A new team is now responsible for ongoing operations and maintenance. We have also completed a series of adjustments to address the many issues present in the old system, including a core system replacement, optimization of registration rules, and data migration arrangements. Our goal is to build a safer, more standardized, and fairer free domain service environment. The details are as follows:
I. Complete system replacement: new self-developed platform
The original sld.tw domain system was built on kldns. During operation, it exposed serious security vulnerabilities, including database corruption, leakage and loss of critical user information, and a flaw that allowed the same domain name to be registered repeatedly by different users on different routes. These issues severely affected the uniqueness and stability of domain usage. Therefore, the old system has been officially discontinued.
We have now fully switched to a new domain management system developed in-house by our team. The new system fixes all known vulnerabilities of the old version and improves stability and security. It is now open for test registrations. We welcome all users to try it out. If you discover any system bugs or technical issues during testing or use, please report them to us through official channels. You can also report domain abuse through dedicated channels – we will investigate and address them promptly.
Old system address (historical data access only): https://nic.sld.tw
New system management panel (registration, domain management, data merging): https://dash.sld.tw
II. Registration rule optimization: stricter abuse control, reduced quota
To prevent malicious bulk registration and abuse of domains, and to ensure that free domain resources are genuinely available to users with legitimate needs, we have optimized the registration quota and usage terms. The domain registration quota per account has been reduced from 100 to 20. After internal discussions, the team agreed that 20 domains are sufficient for individual users and ordinary needs. Lowering the quota is a fundamental measure to minimize abuse and prevent malicious resource hoarding. We have also revised the original terms of service to better suit everyday usage and clarify domain usage rules.
III. Domain abuse control: daily inspections + collective penalty rules
The new team will strictly enforce domain usage monitoring. Administrators will conduct daily inspections of all domains according to the rules. Once abuse is detected, penalty rules will be strictly enforced. The collective penalty rule remains in effect: if any domain under an account is found to be abusive, all domains under that account will be deleted simultaneously. Associated accounts registered via invitation codes may also be penalized if they are involved in abusive behavior.<img><img src="https://u.cubeupload.com/xiaoyunlong/11.png">
To facilitate abuse reporting, we have set up two official email addresses with dedicated purposes:
Data migration inquiries and application: nic@sld.tw
Domain abuse reporting: to@abuse.sld.tw
IV. Data migration process for existing users: first register, first served
Due to corruption of the original database, only point records were preserved. Affected by vulnerabilities in the old system, critical data was lost. Some recovered domains exist only in the DNS system and cannot be directly synced to the new system. Manual migration is required. The process is as follows:
Log in to the old system at https://nic.sld.tw, take a screenshot of your point consumption records under the default route. The screenshot must include the full domain name, domain registration time, point consumption details, and other core information.
Organize this information and send it via email to the dedicated data migration mailbox: nic@sld.tw, submitting a data migration request.
The administrator will verify the information within 7 days. Upon approval, a unique transfer code will be generated for you.
Log in to the new system at https://dash.sld.tw, go to your personal center, find the data merge section, and enter the transfer code to complete synchronization of your original domain data.
Important note: Due to a vulnerability in the old system, the same domain name might have been registered repeatedly by different users on different routes. The new system strictly follows a first-register, first-served principle to ensure domain uniqueness. If multiple users apply for migration of the same domain, the earliest registration time will prevail, and duplicate registrations will be deleted.
This new team takeover and comprehensive adjustments aim to standardize the sld.tw free domain service, eliminate abuse, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of all regular users. We will continue to improve the new system and service quality. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Let’s work together to maintain a healthy and orderly free domain ecosystem.
